Steel-cut oats are a wonderful whole grain to get to know. They are whole oat groats cut into small pieces with a steel blade, and they are chewier with more texture than rolled oats. Steel-cut oatmeal makes a hearty, healthy, delicious way to start the day.
Directions:
Bring 2 cups water to a boil. Stir in oats. Reduce heat to a gentle simmer and cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, until oats are tender and water is absorbed, 25 to 35 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit 2 minutes.
Spoon oatmeal into 2 bowls. Top with sugar (if using), cinnamon and almond milk. Top with mango and blueberries, then sprinkle with walnuts. Serve immediately.
